I had such a great time at the Portland Film Festival, where "Girl Flu." was the closing night film. I've always loved that beautiful city and feel so deeply at home there. So many things were special... I was hosted by a lovely group of strangers who opened their home to me, within three minutes of picking up my badge I was offered a meal of sausages and cider at the fabulous filmmakers' lounge, great films, great people, I could go on... Josh Leake, the founder of the festival, really knows how to do things right.
There were two panels there I got to take part in, the morning Coffee Chat with all the wonderful filmmakers screening on Sunday, and a panel on Directing Actors. One of the most fun things I did was to sit down with Portland Film Podcast's Molly Silverstein to have a lovely conversation about Girl Flu. where the deeper ideas came from, the meaning of the message, and stories about the writing and making of the film. Thanks also to Misty Eddy, the show's producer, and photographer Sean Conley for the wonderful shots. #PDXFF16
